Abstract : With undue emphasis made on the sciences at the school level, poor communication skills remain a bane of the scientific community. Scientific voice, particularly that of research scholars, gets stifled by solecisms that creep into technical writing. This lecture will lay bare the many problematic departments of good writing that journal editors cite to turn back manuscripts. Particular attention will be placed on solecisms arising out of inappropriate use of punctuation, prepositions, participles, adverbs and the like.
