Building Functional Neuronal Networks: "Dissecting the cellular signaling mechanisms regulating neural patterning"

Abstract : The talk will focus on

1. Dissecting the mechanism of neuronal signaling by the fundamental regulatory machinery of nerve cells, particularly the Abl tyrosine kinase.
2. Visualizing the connection of that signaling to the cellular processes of axon guidance, specifically the structure and dynamics of the neuronal cytoskeleton.
3. And in future, the aim of my lab is use a trans-model genetic approach to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain disorders such as Spastic paraplegias and Cortical heterotopias, and to diseases of the elderly such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
