Bees perform an important ecosystem service namely pollination of crop and wild plants largely during the day.Most bees are diurnal but others for age after dark. This transition to nocturnality is remarkable for an animal that possesses apposition eyes that are typical of day active insects. I study the visual adaptations in dim-light bees and examine ecological reasons for this transition to a nocturnal lifestyle among some groups of bees.
