Walk-in-Selection for Recruitment of Library Information Assistant Trainee

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) is dedicated to scientific research and science education of international standards. The institute aims to provide high quality education in modern science, integrating it with outstanding research cutting across disciplines.

The institute’s library is full computerized, subscribes to major e-resources and provides network based information services and aims to be one of the leading state-of-the-art libraries and is fast developing with its rich collection (print and digital), IT infrastructure and innovative information services.

To assist in providing excellent services to the institute’s user community, the library is looking for young, dynamic, tech-savvy, highly motivated and committed personnel to serve as Library Information Assistant Trainee purely on a temporary contract basis for a period of one year.

Essential Educational Qualifications & other requirements:

Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science/ documentation or equivalent

• Sound working knowledge of basic IT tools
• Good communication (written & oral) skills in English
• Strong interpersonal & intrapersonal skills

Nature of traineeship:

Trainees will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the library and learn modern library management techniques and web based services. The library will provide a highly professional working & learning environment. The selected candidates will have ample opportunities to work and learn on emerging IT tools and technologies. Above all, selected candidates will have an opportunity to interact and serve a highly talented & serious user community.

Number of vacancy: One
Age Limit: 28 years as on 01.04.2022
Stipend: Rs. 20,000/- per month
Duration: The duration of traineeship will be for one year

The selected candidates should be ready to work in weekends/ holidays and in different shifts on rotation basis, as per requirements.

Interested candidates who meet the above mentioned basic requirements may attend the written test cum interview on 04 April 2022. The written test will be in English.

The selected candidates have to make their own arrangement for conveyance and accommodation. No TA/DA will be paid
