Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for promotion of high quality science education and research in the country. The CCMS is a centre for training and research in Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (FAST) established under a scheme funded by MoE.

Institute invites applications for the following positions on contract basis:

Name of the Post	Technical Assistant
Description	The Institute is looking for two technical assistants to administer the supercomputing facility of the Centre for Computation, Modelling and Simulation (CCMS) and to interface with service providers when necessary Responsibilities include the management and maintenance of sophisticated high performance computing (HPC) platforms (computer clusters), developing scripts for task automation, maintenance of Linux based PCs which are used in an Instructional computing laboratory and maintenance of CCMS web pages. The work will include coordination and maintenance of other technical infrastructure (such as air conditioners and UPS) belonging to CCMS. The selected candidates will also assist scientific users in the optimal use of computing resources, through installation and optimized compilation of scientific software, educating the users on the usage of shared resources effectively with job manager. Experience in this position will be unique in terms of exposure to system management of a large scale HPC facility.

Minimum Educational qualification and experience	(i) The candidate should have a B.Tech/B.E. degree with at least 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5) in Computer Science and Engineering OR Information Technology (IT) OR Electronics and Communications OR related areas. Candidates with MCA/MSc in Computer Science/IT with at least 60% marks (or CGPA of 6.5) can also apply. (ii) A minimum of one-year experience in system administration of Linux based multi-node computational cluster in a multi-user environment.
Preference	Familiarity with numerically intensive scientifically oriented computing platforms. Experience in handling large computational cluster with more than 10 compute nodes. Knowledge of programming in C/C++/Fortran/Python/Shell scripting.

Remuneration	Rs 20,000/- per month (consolidated).
Tenure of the post	One year extendable up to maximum of three years based on performance.
Age limit	32 years as on the last date of application. Relaxation of age limit as per Govt. of India norms for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be applicable.
