Science Quiz in IISER Thiruvananthapuram for School Students

National Science Day is observed to motivate students towards science, popularize its application and to highlight the benefits of scientific knowledge in daily life. National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28th every year to mark the discovery of Raman effect by C.V. Raman for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.

To commemorate this discovery and spread the scientific spirit and encourage study of science, IISER Thiruvananthapuram is organizing a Science Quiz Competition.

Date and Reporting Time: February 26th, 2011 (9.30 AM).

Venue: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram, Computer Science Building, CET Campus, Thiruvananthapuram – 695016, Kerala.

Participation: Students of class IX are eligible to participate in this event. There is no participation fee and the winners will be given attractive prizes (Rs. 5000/- for the winning team+ shield for the school; Rs. 3000/- for the first runner up and Rs. 2000/- for the second runner up) and certificates for all participants. Each school may send a team of two students.

Registration: Interested schools may kindly register by sending an email to scienceday[at]iisertvm[dot]ac[dot]in mentioning the name of the students on or before 22nd February, 2011. The students are requested to bring a letter from the Principal as a proof of identity on the day of the event.
