PhD Programme: January 2014

Candidates who have applied for the PhD Programme at IISER Thiruvananthapuram, starting January 2014, but have NOT received email acknowledgement of their application may directly appear for the test/interview – provided they satisfy the criterion given below.

AND

1. The candidate MUST have paid the application fee by 25th October 2013. Proof of payment (SBI bank challan) must be produced in original.
2. The candidate satisfies the minimum eligibility criterion of the respective Schools as given in the PhD Applications Advertisement at https://www.iisertvm.ac.in/academics/ph-d-programme/admissions

AND

School of Biology

1. Candidates who have Qualified in one of the following National Level Tests, with validity as on 1st January 2014, CSIR-UGC-JRF/DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE for Ph.D./ICAR-JRF /ICMR JRF may directly appear for the interview.
2. Candidates who have NOT qualified in any of the National Level Tests may directly appear for the written examination in General Biology or Ecology, conducted at IISER TVM.

School of Chemistry
Candidates who have Qualified any of the national level examinations given below valid as on 1st January 2014 or may directly appear for the interview on 3rd December 2013.

1. GATE 2013: Qualified with cut-off Marks; General/OBC: 25 or higher and SC/ST: 16.67 or higher
2. CSIR-UGC-JRF: All JRF rank holders
3. Inspire PhD: All qualified candidates

School of Mathematics

1. NBHM-JRF: All NBHM-JRF qualified candidates may directly appear for interview
2. CSIR-UGC-JRF: All JRF Rank holders may appear for written examination
3. Inspire PhD: All qualified candidates may appear for written examination
4. GATE: GATE qualified candidates with following cut-off marks may appear for written examination

(i) GATE 2013: General: 25 Marks or higher, SC/ST: 16.67 Marks or higher
(ii) GATE 2012: General: 28.28 Marks or higher, SC/ST: 18.85 Marks or higher

School of Physics
Candidates who have qualified in one of the following national level examinations with validity as on 1st January 2014 may directly appear for the interview. (Applicants with M. Tech need a GATE score valid as of 1st January 2013)

1. GATE 2013: Qualified with cut-off Marks; General/OBC: 25 or higher and SC/ST: 20 or higher
2. CSIR-UGC-JRF: All JRF Rank holders
3. JEST-2013: Valid Rank
4. INSPIRE Ph.D. Fellowship: Qualified
