Mathematics Lecture series by Prof. Ramadas Ramakrishnan
Prof. Ramadas Ramakrishnan, Head of the Mathematics Group, The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy will be visiting IISER TVM in the second week of April. He will give a series of lectures on Topics in Geometry and Physics.
The first two lectures are scheduled on April 11 and 12 at at 4:00 PM, IISER TVM Seminar hall.
The details of these lectures are as follows:
Lecture 1: Definitions and examples of the following concepts: manifold, vector bundle, connection, curvature.
Lecture 2: Examples from Physics: magnetic monopole, berry phase, general relativity. If time permits, I will also introduce certain nonlinear partial differential equations that have origins in Physics, with very interesting applications to geometry.
