IISER TVM is an autonomous institution of the Govt of India set up on par with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and IITs by the Ministry of Education. Applications are invited from Indian Nationals of outstanding academic achievements, with ability to lead vibrant research groups and interested in teaching for FACULTY POSITIONS at IISER TVM. The following positions are available in the broad areas of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and inter-disciplinary subjects.
Assistant Professor (Rs 12,000-420-18,300): Ph.D. with a minimum of three years of quality post-doctoral or equivalent experience.
Associate Professor (Rs 16,400-450-20,000): Ph.D. with a minimum of eight years of teaching/research experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.
Professor (Rs 18,400-500-22,400): Ph.D. with a minimum of ten years of teaching/research experience of which at least five years should be at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Candidates with Ph.D., research accomplishments and experience will be considered for appropriate positions. The experience criteria may be relaxed for exceptionally meritorious candidates. A duly appointed committee of experts will shortlist candidates for selection. The Govt of India has made generous outlays and systems for setting up and running excellent research and teaching facilities, for creating the necessary physical and intellectual environment required to attract the best faculty. The Institute is functioning presently in the College of Engineering Campus at Kulathur, Thiruvananthapuram. Preliminary works have started for setting up the Institute in the picturesque campus at Vithura in the foothills of the Ponmudi range, 40km from Thiruvananthapuram. This is planned to be a completely residential campus with all modern facilities. IISER TVM will encourage its faculty to start new independent research laboratories and develop the Institute to become the best of its kind in research and teaching.
In addition to a significant start-up research grant based on the projections made by the new faculty/requirement, partial support to cover relocation expenses will be paid to new faculty. Partial/full support for attending selected national and international conferences, and part-reimbursement of annual membership fee to at least one international professional body will be provided. In addition, a book-grant, part-reimbursement of rentals on telephone/mobile, campus or rented/leased residential accommodation, provision of medical insurance/medical scheme etc are some of the benefits that will be available.
There are excellent Schools (CBSE, State Board and International) and medical facilities in Thiruvananthapuram. The city has a tradition of music and art with various cultural activities and festivals held year round. In addition there are world famous beaches and hill resorts a short drive away, even from the main campus, apart from the natural streams, rivers and waterfalls around Vithura.
